Using
Southern California Business to Business directories and contacting
plastic and machine shops soon led to better and better prototypes.
I then began to host focus groups
in California and Hawaii where
I was able to further improve both style
and function.
After several
years spent on R&D, lawyers and patents I finally came up with
a design that agreed with my original dream. Today, Kurtis USA goggles
are made of the finest materials and hand crafted in the USA.
I hope you will
enjoy Kurtis USA products and more importantly I hope you will continue
to do something to preserve the sport of surfing as well. If we don’t
look out for each other, shoe companies in Oregon and motorcycle companies
with big wallets will run the surf industry. Keep it at the beach.

Kurtis
USA was born and will live forever at the beach. My Surf Goggles
were developed out of necessity, as I was tired of getting my eyes
fried every surf session. The idea for the “Duke” hit
me while surfing a decent rippable day at Huntington. It was a glass
off session and the glare from the sun was brutal. I was used to
wearing sunglasses out of the water, but I knew they wouldn’t
work in the water. I began to think of what would work, but nothing
short of making you look like a kook was available. Taking the idea
from that session I began to break apart old goggles, sun glasses
and wetsuits and with a blow dryer, glue and a hot iron I developed
the first pair of functional surf goggles in my parents garage (that
pair is still better then some being sold on the market today).
